A BOOK ABOUT DEATH lives on..
Conceived and organized by Matthew Rose
Emily Harvey Foundation Gallery New York City 10-22 September 2009
Artists from around the globe contributed 500 cards each to create an Unbound Book About The Subject Of Death. The project is a tribute to the late artist Ray Johnson (1927-1995) whose own work inspired this exhibition; Emily Harvey (1941-2004).
A Book About Death is comprised of artists' postcards from original art created specifically for the exhibit. Visitors to the gallery are encouraged to take "pages" away with them to create their own book about death.
The exhibition proofed to be a huge success - there were hundreds of visitors attending the opening. At the end of the exhibit at The Emily Harvey Foundation a set of cards was acquired by MoMA - The Museum of Modern Art New York.
